BREAKING: Another Democratic Official Detained by "Federal Agents"
NYC mayoral candidate Brad Lander detained by ICE amid Trump’s harsh immigration crackdown; tensions rise as officials face arrests.
Brad Lander, NYC comptroller and Democratic mayoral hopeful, was forcefully detained by federal agents after trying to prevent the arrest of a man at an immigration court.
In a tense scene that reflects the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration crackdown, Brad Lander was handcuffed and taken into custody Tuesday while attempting to escort a man out of a Lower Manhattan immigration court. The man’s case had reportedly been dismissed, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were trying to detain him immediately afterward.
Lander’s wife confirmed his detention, and officials claim he was arrested for “assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer.” Yet, video footage shows Lander holding onto the man and demanding, “Where is the judicial warrant?” as masked agents ignored his requests and restrained him.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Just days earlier, Senator Alex Padilla was manhandled after confronting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The Trump administration’s push for mass deportations has led to increased detentions right inside immigration courts, stirring outrage among immigrant advocates and politicians alike.
Lander, who has been court-watching to “stand up for the rule of law,” now finds himself at the center of a political firestorm during a competitive mayoral primary. Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, who recently cross-endorsed Lander, denounced the arrest as “fascism,” calling on New Yorkers to unite against this crackdown.

Is the US now qualified as a police state? Did I correctly ask that question? Or this question? Or do they qualify me as detainable? Or arrestable?
