Spain made history last Sunday with its first-ever nude film screenings in Valencia and Barcelona, offering a unique cinema experience where attendees watched Marisa Crespo and Moisés Romero’s thriller Tú no eres yo in the nude. Hosted at the Lys cinema in Valencia and the Girona cinema in Barcelona, the event was organized by local naturist associations aiming to challenge societal taboos around nudity. Attendees, including members of the Valencian Naturist Association, spread towels on their seats before shedding their clothes, creating an environment focused on liberation and normalization.

“It was spectacular to work with them, and our naked presence also normalized the situation for the actors, who felt more comfortable naked,” said Juan Ángel Manzano, a participant who appeared as an extra in the film. For organizers like Patxi Esparza, president of the Valencian Naturist Association, the event was more than just a bold headline: “It’s a path towards other opportunities and normalizing nudism.”

The initiative highlighted the naturist community’s broader goal of separating nudity from sexual connotations and fostering acceptance. While the Madrid screening was canceled, organizers hope this event paves the way for more cultural spaces in Spain to embrace naturism and break down barriers.
