If Republicans were hoping Musk would stay out of the spotlight after Wisconsin, that plan appears to be over.
The New York Times reports Musk’s America PAC is gearing up to pour between $100 million and $120 million into key Senate races. Collins, facing a challenge from former Maine state Sen. Troy Jackson in an increasingly difficult political environment, is expected to be one of the biggest beneficiaries.
The PAC is also targeting competitive races in Alaska, Iowa, Ohio, and Michigan, while weighing investments in Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. It’s already active in House races in California, Wisconsin, and Washington, and is coordinating with major conservative groups including Americans for Prosperity and the Sentinel Action Fund. A major focus will be old-fashioned door-knocking ahead of November.
Musk’s political track record has been mixed. His money helped Donald Trump win in 2024, but his high-profile involvement in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court race became a rallying point for Democrats and ended with conservatives losing. Since then, his role leading the Department of Government Efficiency has generated plenty of political baggage that Democrats are eager to tie to Republican candidates.
