FSU Shooting: Six Injured, One Critically
Suspect Arrested as Campus Remains Locked Down
An active shooter situation at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee has left six individuals injured, with one in critical condition.
Authorities have confirmed the suspect is in custody, though details remain limited. The campus is still under lockdown, and law enforcement is advising students and staff to follow all instructions from FSU officials. The situation prompted nearby Leon County public schools to dismiss early and local schools to lock down as a precaution.
The chaos began around noon when reports of gunshots echoed through campus. Students described frantic moments as they hid in classrooms, some reliving traumatic memories from past shootings. "He was like, 'Man, I never thought this would happen again,'" said Angel Dejesus, a junior at FSU, recounting how a Parkland survivor shared their fear.
At least six individuals have been transported to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, with one in critical condition and others listed in serious but stable condition. The hospital's trauma center, the only Level II center in the region, remains mobilized to care for the injured.
