German Tourists Detained for Weeks, Then Deported Amid U.S. Crackdown
Two German tourists found themselves caught in the crosshairs of America's escalating immigration enforcement, detained for weeks and ultimately deported without clear explanations.
Jessica Brösche, a 29-year-old tattoo artist, was held for 46 days, while Lucas Sielaff, 25, endured a 16-day ordeal after border officials at San Ysidro, between San Diego and Tijuana, denied them entry.
Their cases have ignited controversy in Germany, raising concerns over the treatment of European travelers under the U.S.'s aggressive border policies.
“Sometimes I just wake up because I have nightmares of this situation and what happened,” Sielaff said, reflecting on his detention.
Despite traveling under the visa-free Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), both tourists were reportedly accused of violating entry terms.
Brösche was suspected of planning to work illegally (you mean like Melania Trump and Elon Musk?) due to tattooing equipment in her luggage, while Sielaff was denied a translator and struggled to understand his interrogation.
Brösche endured nine days in solitary confinement at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, and Sielaff was chained to a bench alongside other detainees before being placed in a packed cell. His partner, American citizen Lennon Tyler, was also briefly detained and subjected to a humiliating body search when she demanded answers.
After weeks of legal wrangling, both tourists were forcibly deported, with Sielaff forced to pay $2,744 for his flight back to Germany. His partner fought tirelessly for his release, bombarding authorities with calls and media attention.
“My lawyer said bother them until they let him go,” Tyler said. “And that’s what Lucas and I did. We just made ourselves a nuisance.”
Their experience highlights the severe consequences of the U.S.'s hardened immigration stance, even for travelers from allied nations.

"Their experience highlights the severe consequences of the U.S.'s hardened immigration stance, even for travelers from allied nations."
At this point I have to ask...Who exactly are our allies. Allies of former president tRump like Russia, North Korea, basically any dictator led country, oh yes and now China cause China is luvin the destruction of our U.S.A. government or our true allies who are now officially alienating us?
Once again, sorry about the typos.
