Gone are the days of third-party fact-checkers sifting through dubious claims. Instead, Meta will now roll out Community Notes, the feature you’ve probably seen on X (formerly Twitter), where users provide context to posts. It’s like Yelp reviews for truth—because that’s what our fractured democracy needs: crowdsourced content moderation.

Zuckerberg’s reasoning? A mea culpa on years of “mistaken censorship” stemming from post-2016 election changes. According to him, those policies inadvertently muzzled millions of users, creating more drama than clarity. The CEO assured users that Meta will still police egregious violations such as terrorism and child exploitation.

But political discourse? That’s now a free-for-all. And just to spice things up, Meta is relocating its safety and trust teams to Texas, because if there’s one place synonymous with nuanced content moderation, it’s Texas.
