NOT SURPRISED: Trump’s Name Turns Up on Epstein’s Jet—Again, and More Often Than Claimed
Newly released Justice Department emails show Donald Trump flew on Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet far more times than Trump admitted to (which was zero).
The disclosure comes from a 7 January 2020 email by a federal prosecutor, unsealed as part of a massive document dump the US Department of Justice was legally required to release. According to the email, Trump was listed as a passenger on Epstein’s plane at least eight times between 1993 and 1996—years before Epstein’s first arrest.
“Donald Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware),” the prosecutor wrote in the email, which was circulated inside the DOJ during preparations for the Ghislaine Maxwell case. At least four of those flights also included Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking-related crimes.
Trump has long denied any wrongdoing and has insisted he distanced himself from Epstein years before the financier’s legal troubles. In 2024, he flatly wrote: “I was never on Epstein’s Plane.” The DOJ, for its part, says the newly released files include “untrue and sensationalist claims” about Trump—and emphasized that the flight logs themselves do not prove criminal conduct.
Still, the details are awkward. The email notes one 1993 flight where the only passengers listed were Epstein and Trump, and others where potential witnesses in the Maxwell case were aboard. Handwritten flight logs released earlier this year also appear to list Trump and his son Eric on a 1995 flight from Palm Beach to New Jersey.
The document release—more than 30,000 pages so far—is the largest batch of Epstein-related files yet, though thousands more remain unpublished. The DOJ has already missed a congressional deadline, drawing criticism from lawmakers and survivors who argue transparency keeps slipping, one “ongoing review” at a time.
