Operation Facepalm: Trump’s Team “Accidentally” Texted a War Plan to a Journalist
Nobody's been fired... yet. But this is TrumpWorld, so they probably got a promotion!
It’s not every day a White House “accidentally” invites a journalist to a high-level military group chat. But thanks to a mind-melting lapse in operational security, The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg got a front-row seat to Trump’s national security team plotting a military strike on Yemen—via Signal.
Yes, that Signal. The encrypted texting app your paranoid uncle uses to complain about the government.
Goldberg’s detailed write-up of the chaos reads like a cross between Veep and Dr. Strangelove. And the kicker? These are the same folks who spent years screaming about Hillary’s email server.
Read more here from Goldberg.
Jeffrey Goldberg didn’t go looking for a scoop—it fell into his lap like a Tomahawk missile through a skylight. In his Atlantic piece, Goldberg recounts getting a Signal ping from someone claiming to be National Security Adviser Michael Waltz.
“Probably a prank,” he thought.
Until, two days later, he was added to a group chat literally called “Houthi PC small group”—a shorthand for the Trump admin’s principals committee discussing military action in Yemen.
Let’s pause for a second: A sitting president’s war council discussed live military targeting and strike details on an unsecured, unauthorized text app.
With a journalist sitting there like, “Uh… guys?” And remember, these are the same people who acted like Hillary’s email server was the fifth horseman of the apocalypse.
Where’s the FBI raid now? Where’s the 11-hour Benghazi hearing for this?
Goldberg says he stayed silent in the chat to avoid tipping them off. What he witnessed: full-blown, emoji-free war planning—including which weapons to use, what order to strike in, and how to spin the PR nightmare.
Vice President JD Vance even worried the public wouldn't "understand" the need for bombing Yemen. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth (yep, the drunk frat boy from Fox News) chimed in with a strategy so brilliant it belongs on a bumper sticker:
“1) Biden failed & 2) Iran funded.”
Oh, and while they were arguing strategy, nobody—not one person—noticed that the editor in chief of The Atlantic was sitting silently in the chat. The sheer lack of awareness is almost poetic.
This isn’t just a whoopsie. This is a five-alarm, national security dumpster fire. Where’s the accountability? Who signed off on using Signal for war plans? Why are military operations being hashed out like a fantasy football draft? And more to the point—if Hillary’s emails were national news for a decade, what’s the excuse now?
These fucking guys…

We are surrounded by fools, cowards and madmen. It would be almost comedic, if millions of lives weren’t at risk. There are still too many Trump flags flying, too many followers literally loving the “whitewashing” of America. And I am afraid to trust a tarnished and corrupt Supreme Court.
So now UHHMM I hear the tRump team is attacking The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg for...UHHMM... well UHHMM,,, WELP UHHMM,,,shizz I kinda dunno! I guess it was a "Dude did ya bring your own fucking booze? This is our party go home." Oh yeah he was somewhere close to home.
