From the Middle East to Capitol Hill to Silicon Valley, today’s stories all come down to one thing: power—and who’s willing to spend the most to keep it. Here’s what’s brewing in The Morning Sixpack Podcast.

Trump says the gloves are off after Iran’s latest attack on U.S. troops. President Trump vowed a forceful military response after Iran launched a surprise missile attack targeting American forces in Jordan. While back-channel diplomacy technically continues, Trump’s blunt warning suggests the conflict could be entering another dangerous phase.

Iran is reportedly rebuilding its military with help from China. Reuters says Tehran is buying hundreds of Chinese-made shoulder-fired air defense missiles to replace equipment damaged during months of fighting with the U.S. and Israel. China denies the report, but if true, it signals another step toward a deeper Beijing-Tehran military relationship.

Crypto’s political money machine has hit a Senate speed bump. The industry’s long-awaited regulatory bill is bogged down in negotiations, leaving roughly $140 million in campaign cash waiting to see which lawmakers deserve support—and which may soon find themselves in crypto’s crosshairs.

Elon Musk is back in campaign mode. The billionaire is reviving America PAC to help Republicans retain control of Congress, focusing on voter turnout while rejoining President Trump’s political operation after last year’s public split. Apparently some relationships are stronger than social media arguments.

Todd Blanche’s confirmation ran into trouble—from Republicans. Two GOP senators forced a delay in the vote on Trump’s attorney general nominee until the Justice Department formally kills a controversial settlement fund. Sometimes the toughest confirmation battles come from inside your own party.

Wall Street is demanding receipts from Meta’s AI gamble. Investors punished the company after Mark Zuckerberg failed to explain how Meta plans to turn massive AI spending into profits. Microsoft impressed investors with real revenue growth. Meta mostly asked everyone to stay patient.

The themes are hard to miss: Military power, political power, and financial power all came under the microscope today. Whether it’s missiles, campaign cash or artificial intelligence, everyone is making expensive bets—and somebody will eventually have to prove they were worth it.
