Diplomatic Drama: South African Ambassador Ordered Out
The Trump administration has set a deadline for South Africa’s ambassador to the United States, Ebrahim Rasool, to leave by Friday after being declared persona non grata.

Trump Targets Paul Weiss: Suppressing Attorneys Is Straight Out of the Authoritarian's Playbook
In a dramatic move, President Trump signed an executive order on Friday that suspends security clearances for Mark Pomerantz and other individuals at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, effectively restricting government access to the New York-based law firm.
The White House stated, "Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to suspend security clearances held by individuals at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (Paul Weiss) pending a review of whether such clearances are consistent with the national interest."
This order comes on the heels of Trump’s aggressive stance at the Department of Justice, where he attacked those involved in prosecuting him.
This isn’t the first time Trump has targeted a law firm, following previous actions against Perkins Coie—an order that was partly blocked by a federal judge for being unconstitutional. The language in the current order mirrors that of the one aimed at Perkins Coie, highlighting the administration’s broader campaign against legal firms deemed to be hindering its agenda.
Judge Beryl Howell described the administration’s actions as "terrifying" to the legal community, warning that these measures could set a dangerous precedent.
Paul Weiss emphasized that Mark Pomerantz, who retired in 2012, had not been affiliated with the firm for years, yet the executive order continues to focus on his past activities.
