Trump Orders Tulsi Gabbard to Yank 37 Security Clearances
Donald Trump just ordered Tulsi Gabbard to strip 37 intelligence officials of their security clearances—and she did it without hesitation.
On Tuesday, Gabbard, now serving as National Intelligence Director, announced that she had revoked the credentials “at the direction of President Donald Trump.”
She justified the move in a social media post, declaring, “Being entrusted with a security clearance is a privilege, not a right.”
That’s not subtle—it’s a purge dressed up as patriotism.
The list of casualties is long and politically pointed. Among them: Maher Bitar, who once worked for Rep. Adam Schiff during Trump’s first impeachment. Also losing clearances were Biden-era National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horne and State Department intelligence chief Brett Holmgren. Many others were senior officials across the CIA, NSA, Pentagon, and State Department—some of whom played roles in investigating Trump’s ties to Russia.
The revocations took effect immediately. According to reports, not only did these officials lose access, but any contracts or employment tied to their clearance were terminated as well. Critics quickly called it political score-settling. National security attorney Mark Zaid, who lost his own clearance under Trump, didn’t mince words: “Further proof of weaponization and politicization.”
What’s really happening here isn’t about “oaths to the Constitution.” It’s about Trump cleaning house of anyone who ever dared question him. Gabbard may claim it’s about protecting America, but the timing and the names on that list scream political loyalty test.
