I think the power plays post-Trump are the crypto bros vs. the AI bros... yes, there is SOME overlap, but not complete.
For AI Bros, you can largely assume this is the Nerd Reich folks who would mostly favor Thiel's puppet, JD Vance. Crypto -- you have Don, Eric & Witkoff with World Liberty Financial.
And in between?
Trump's appointed AI & Crypto czar, South African tech bro David Sacks.
It's unclear what the machinations of the crypto crowd might and could be. Public crypto company Tether bailed out JD Vance's conspiracy youtube-adjacent platform Rumble last December to the tune of around 3/4 B.
So Witkoffs (father & son) and Sacks are people to watch, along, of course with Thiel, Musk and Marc Andreesan.
Will the crypto $ outshine that of the TechBros?
Again there's quite an overlap, but it's not 100%, and there's the crux.
Both AI & crypto are highly dependent on their data centers, which have huge impacts in a variety of dimensions... which mean there are a variety of ways for competing parties to throw sand in the gears of the other.
I would love to know more of the insider scoop on Zuck's Louisiana data center, Musk's TN, and Musk and Stargate's TX centers.
Musk's TN center apparently was a done deal before even nearby, affected local governments knew anything about it.
Elon has a MASSIVE ability to collect data (he commented about knowing more about the world economy than anyone else because of SpaceX, starlink and 1 other item.
Which started me thinking about... oh... so.. those low earth starlink satellites.... they're doing MORE than shuffling Internet traffic, you say?
Imagination runs rampant... thinking about predictive policing and ICE raids and AI and whether or not starlink and AI might be involved. (but then I just posted an article on my FB timeline about US Big Tech profiting from the war in Gaza.)
But then, the crypto bros can kinda make currency out of thin air... and those crypto exchanges have a nasty record of getting hacked and being brought down & such.
There's got to be enough in all this to write a slew of political suspense/dystopian/horror fiction...
It's not a clean division, since Musk & Thiel are certainly big fans of crypto, as are a number of TechBros.
Meanwhile... the conclave in Beijing... and Trump is where? (not "truthing" on Truth Social, that's for sure. Supposedly all sorts of pictures of him "golfing" at his VA golf course debunk the rumors... except... except... they're either too dark, or have been identified to have been Trump at golf courses in the past.
The plot thickens. We'll see what his DoD (DoW soon) announcement entails... nobody cares, really, what the DoD is called. But we'll see what he looks like.
I won't be surprised if he looks like his *normal* self - the POTUS has nearly unlimited resources so they should be able to make a corpse look alive and thriving.
