It's easy to forget the January 6, 2021 US Capitol Attack
“Never forget” is what we all say every September 11.
I suggest we start saying that on January 6, too, because it’s easy to forget what happened that day and the days leading up to it.
It’s actually astonishing that we forget about the attack by our own residents on the US Capitol and our democracy since Donald Trump brings up the “stolen election” in every speech he gives.
That election that he lost—fair & square—is what he says prompted the “peaceful protest” that sane people saw and heard with their own eyes and ears as what it was: A violent, if incompetent, attack on the United States itself.
The violent attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 was treason.

It made me sick then and to this day it still makes me want to vomit. EVERY ONE of those traitors should be in prison right now.

I think the difference in many people's mind is that 9/11 was "them" and the capital was "us". They didn't LOOK any different than us so many weren't as upset. Personally January 6 hit me in the gut - it was betrayal by our fellow citizens. People who might live next door. Yet our country was so divided some felt they needed to follow their fellow traitors into the capitol. Mob mentality. Based on the number of family, friends, and neighbors who have turned in January 6 rioters, I think a lot of people agree - they attacked us! Sadly, there are still millions of Americans who believed it was justified - because trump told them it was. But don't get me started on the cult followers.
